ASCS Sprints on Dirt Set for Weekend Double
TULSA, Okla. (June 2, 2008) -- The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz will see the small and the big of it with this weekend's twin bill of Michigan racing action.
On Friday night, the series makes its first stop of the season at Fife Lake's Cherry Speedway. Then on Saturday, it's on to Lake Odessa's I-96 Speedway for the first of the year as well.
Friday's Cherry Speedway event marks the second round of the ASCS Sprints on Dirt MAHLE Clevite Short Track Challenge. At the other end of the spectrum, Saturday's I-96 Speedway card marks the first leg of the Engler Machine and Tool Half Mile Master mini series.
With the opening three nights of action in the books, Jerome, Michigan's Ben Rutan is out to the series early points lead. It's a slim lead however, as a mere two points separate Rutan from three-time series kingpin Tim Norman. Rutan and Norman have both reached ASCS Sprints on Dirt victory lane thus far in 2008, with the third card washed out after heat race action.
Brett Mann enters the weekend double third in points, just four markers off the lead pace, with Gregg Dalman and Mike Galajda rounding out the current top five.
Dain Naida enters the weekend ranked sixth, with the balance of the current top ten including Ryan Grubaugh, John Gall, Joe Bares and Gary Fast.
Both nights of racing action are slated to fire off at 7:30 p.m.
