ASCS Sprints on Dirt at Merritt Saturday Night
TULSA, Okla. (August 11, 2008) -- Gearing up for the home stretch with the season championship in sight, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz makes its final stop of the season at Michigan's Merritt Speedway this Saturday night.
With 16 nights of action in the books, only five point events remain following Saturday night's card at Merritt Speedway.
Goshen, Indiana's Brett Mann leads the way into Saturday's stop with an 18-point lead over Jerome, Michigan's Ben Rutan. Past series champ Dain Naida of Belleville, MI, enters the night ranked third, 48 points off the lead pace, with Ryan Grubaugh (St. Johns, MI) and three-time series champion Tim Norman (Warsaw, IN) rounding out the current top five.
The balance of the current top ten includes Gregg Dalman (Grand Ledge, MI), Gary Fast (Kalkaska, MI), Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI) and Louie Carufel (Port Huron, MI).
Daggett topped the series initial stop of the season at Merritt on July 26, a track at which he has collected eight of his 51 career ASCS SOD feature wins. Steve Irwin earned a pair of SOD wins at Merritt last year, while Grubaugh bested the SOD forces twice at Merritt in 2006.
Saturday's racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m.
