ASCS Sprints on Dirt Set for Canadian Double
TULSA, Okla. (August 21, 2007) -- The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz will take a tight championship points battle across the border this weekend with a pair of events in Ontario, Canada.
On Friday night, the series takes to Ohsweken Speedway before moving on to South Buxton Raceway in Merlin on Saturday night.
With 14 events in the books, Tim Norman of Warsaw, IN, holds a slim eight-point lead over Goshen, Indiana's Brett Mann in the championship points battle. Only five nights of points-paying action remain for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt, including this weekend's pair of events.
While Norman, seeking his third series title, and Mann battle atop the point charts, Ben Rutan of Jerome, MI, has stayed within striking distance in third. Rutan enters the weekend just 38 points off of Norman's lead pace.
Gary Fast of Kalkaska, MI, enters the weekend ranked fourth, just 14 points ahead of Linden, Michigan's Bill Johnson, who rounds out the current top five.
The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Sprints on Dirt points includes rookie contender Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN), Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), this past weekend's feature winner Ryan Grubaugh (St. Johns, MI), 17-year-old rookie shoe Jake Stebner (Elmira, MI) and Kirk Cheney (Hastings, MI).
