USA Fall Classic on Tap for ASCS Southwest Region!
TULSA, Okla. (September 30, 2008) -- The American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region is set for two full nights of racing action with this weekend's USA Fall Classic at Tucson's USA Race Park on Friday and Saturday.
And, leading the way into the two-night event is current series point leader Rick Ziehl, who is trying to add another championship to his resume.
Hailing from Las Cruces, NM, Ziehl enters the weekend double with just a 20-point advantage over El Paso's Shawn Sander, who will try to prevent Ziehl from adding to a list of championships that includes top USA Race Park Sprint Car honors in both 2006 and 2007.
Ziehl and Sander are chased in the points race by 19-year-old Tucson rookie contender Cody Cambensy, who is just eight markers ahead of fellow Tucson shoe Ronnie Clark.
Ben Gregg, who picked off his sixth series win of the season this past weekend, rounds out the current top five in points entering this weekend's action with the balance of the top ten including Joshua Williams (Glendale, AZ), Mike Rux, Jr. (Mesa, AZ), Jessica Van Dyke (Tucson, AZ), John Gaston (Peoria, AZ) and Steve Martin (Phoenix, AZ).
