ASCS Southern Tour Opener Reset for April 23

TULSA, Okla. (April 1, 2005) -- The Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour season opening event originally slated for Laurens County Speedway in Laurens, SC, on April 16 has been rescheduled and will now take place one week later on Saturday night, April 23.

The April 23 event atop the high-banked, 3/8-mile Laurens County Speedway clay oval will mark the first of approximately 15 races this season for the ASCS Southern Tour. The series will make a second stop at the Laurens, SC, track at a date yet to be determined.

After the ASCS makes its initial return to the southeastern portion of the country on April 23, the series fires back into action just six nights later on Friday night, April 29, with the first of a pair of stops at Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, NC.

More than 20 drivers have already committed to run the entire Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour this year, with even more drivers showing a keen interest in the series.

In total, including the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, the Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South and Rocky Mountain Regions, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction nearly 120 nights of racing in 2005 at more than 50 different racetracks throughout at least 15 different states.
