ASCS Southern Tour Races Into Lavonia on Saturday
TULSA, Okla. (May 16, 2006) -- Among the most heated championship point races in the country, the Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour makes its debut at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA, this Saturday night.
With three ASCS Southern Tour events in the books, three different drivers have picked up feature wins, including Scott McClaren, Johnny Bridges and Brian Smith.
And the points race couldn't be any closer, with McClaren, Bridges and Butch Pendergrass tied for the lead entering this Saturday night's event. Jimmy Burns is just 20 points off the lead pace in fourth, with Jeff Young and Dale Arnold tied for fifth just two more points back.
The balance of the top ten includes Bronzie Lawson, Coby Adams, Doug Gold and Tim Perry.
A stout field of entries is expected for the series debut atop the slightly banked, 3/8-mile Lavonia Speedway clay oval, with racing action set to go green at 7:00 p.m.

The Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour slate consists of 15 nights of racing at twelve different tracks throughout the southeastern portion of the United States in 2006.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
