ASCS Southern Tour Ready for Lavonia
TULSA, Okla. (June 19, 2006) -- After an off weekend to regroup from a busly slate of activity, the Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour fires back into action with the series' debut at Georgia's Lavonia Motor Speedway this Saturday night.
With eight events already in the books, Pfafftown, North Carolina's Butch Pendergrass has opened up a slim 16-point lead over Moorseville, North Carolina's Coby Adams in the series championship points chase.
Lance Moss of Cherryville, NC, enters the event ranked third, just 22 points out of the lead, with two-time '06 ASCS Southern Tour feature winner Johnny Bridges of Cherryville, NC, just nine more points back in fourth.
Jeff Young rounds out the current top five in points, with the balance of the top ten including Brian Smith, Jimmy Burns, Doug Gold, Kris Brooks and Scott McClaren.
Racing action atop the slightly-banked, 3/8-mile Lavonia Motor Speedway clay oval gets under way at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

The Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour 2006 slate consists of 16 nights of racing at thirteen different tracks throughout the southeastern portion of the United States.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing at nearly 100 tracks throughout 27 different states and Canada in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
