ASCS Southern Tour Launches at Laurens Saturday

TULSA, Okla. (April 18, 2005) -- After much anticipation, the American Sprint Car Series makes a return to the southeast portion of the country with this Saturday night's launch of the Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour at Laurens County Speedway in Laurens, SC.

Saturday night's opener at Laurens County Speedway is expected to be the first of approximately fifteen ASCS Southern Tour events in 2005 throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and the surrounding area, with approximately 20 drivers committed to the entire Tour.

Saturday's event atop the 3/8-mile high-banked Laurens County clay is slated to get under way at 8:00 p.m. Laurens County Speedway is located east of Laurens, SC, on US 76, then 0.6 miles southwest on SR 127, then 0.1 mile southeast on Racetrack Road. After the Laurens opener, the series moves on to Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, NC, on Friday night, April 29.

In total, including the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, the Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain and Midwest Regions, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction nearly 120 nights of racing in 2005 at more than 50 different racetracks throughout at least 15 different states.
