Fayetteville Joins ASCS Southern Tour

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 12, 2005) -- After a pair of successful opening events, the Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour has added another track to the fold with North Carolina's Fayetteville Motor Speedway inking a date.

The ASCS Southern Tour is set to invade the 4/10-mile semi-banked Fayetteville Motor Speedway clay oval for the first time on Saturday night, September 10.

With the Fayetteville addition, the Heintz Performance Southern ASCS Southern Tour now consists of nine nights of racing at a half dozen tracks throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, with the series' season finale set for October 28 and 29 atop The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

Several additional dates are pending and will be announced soon.

While Mike Brecht and Danny Martin, Jr., split victory honors in the Southern Tour's opening pair of events, it's North Carolina's Scott Young sitting atop the point charts on the strength of second and third place finishes.

The next event for the Heintz Performance ASCS Southern Tour is slated for June 11 at New 311 Speedway in Madison, NC.

In total, including the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour, the Southern Tour and the Sooner, Gulf South, Rocky Mountain and Midwest Regions, the American Sprint Car Series will sanction nearly 120 nights of racing in 2005 at more than 50 different racetracks throughout at least 15 different states.
