Rilat DNQ'S, Logan impresses, Johnson leads for Southern Iowa Sprintweek title.

Knoxville, Iowa (August 9, 2002) - Thursday night at Knoxville Raceway provided one of the most exciting and interesting shows of the 9-event Southern Iowa SprintWeek to date. Travis Rilat, Tuesday's winner of the non-winged Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa, was a Did Not Qualify (DNQ) on his preliminary night of the Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals. Ricky Logan, who is qualified for tonight's Kele World Challenge by way of his run in the South Pacific Sprint Car Championship in New Zealand, recorded a fine seventh place finish on his adopted "home track". Thus, Jason Johnson of Greenville, Texas, continues to lead the point standings for inaugural "Mr. Sprint Car" title after the first seven events of the 9-event Southern Iowa SprintWeek. Johnson has 176 points, compared with 148 for Rilat and 133 for Logan, respectively.

The Southern Iowa SprintWeek champion will claim the "Mr. Sprint Car" title and pocket $1,500 in bonus money. Through last night's action, a total of 212 drivers have earned points in 360-cubic-inch, 410 c.i., and/or non-winged sprint car racing.

The 'top ten' in the current "Mr. Sprint Car" point standings: Jason Johnson 176, Travis Rilat 148, Ricky Logan 133, Josh Higday 126, Kasey Kahne 125, Jason Sides 123, Jaymie Moyle 118, Michael Dupuy 115, Mike Reinke 102, Tyler Walker 99.
