Knoxville, Iowa (August 5, 2002) - Clint Garner of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jason Johnson of Greenville, Texas, share the lead for the inaugural "Mr. Sprint Car" title after the first three events of the 9-event Southern Iowa SprintWeek. Garner scored third place finishes on both Saturday and Sunday nights at Knoxville Raceway in his 360-cubic-inch sprint car. Johnson finished second on Saturday night in the track's 410 c.i. sprint car division, and then put in his potent 360 for a fourth place run in Sunday's Brodix Tournament of Champions. Both Garner and Johnson have accumulated 96 points, while 360 racers Michael Dupuy of Amite, La., and Josh Higday of Des Moines each have 95 points. Dupuy finished second on Saturday and fifth in the Brodix ToC. Higday was sixth on Saturday, but he won $4,000 by claiming the prestigious Tournament of Champions last night.

Southern Iowa SprintWeek continues tonight with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Gumout Series-sanctioned 410 c.i. Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. The Southern Iowa SprintWeek champion will claim the "Mr. Sprint Car" title and pocket $1,500 in bonus money.
