KNOXVILLE, IOWA (AUGUST 12, 2003) - Following the first three nights of the Auto Trader Southern Iowa SprintWeek, Oklahoman Shane Stewart has extended his lead in the "Mr. Sprint Car" point title. Stewart drove to a fine third place finish, behind winner Lance Dewease and runner-up Danny Lasoski, last night in the All Star Circuit of Champions-sanctioned Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. He previously had taken a win in Saturday night's Casey's General Stores 410 feature and a second place finish in Sunday night's Brodix 360 Tournament of Champions at the Knoxville Raceway.
Fellow Oklahoman Zach Chappell is in second place, while female sensation Erin Crocker of Wilbraham, Mass., is in third place. The "Mr. Sprint Car" title may have to be modified, or abandoned outright, if the recent RPI engineering graduate continues to excel this week. Night four will take place at the Southern Iowa Speedway tonight with the Sprint Car Racing Association/Non-Winged World Championship-sanctioned Ultimate Challenge for non-winged 410-cubic-inch sprint cars.
