KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 14, 2004) - "This is hard to believe," said Knoxville Raceway director of racing Ralph Capitani. "After seven straight nights of sprint car racing, three drivers are separated by one point in the battle for the Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek title."

Following last night's Kele World Challenge, presented by the Fleet Buying Group, Australian Kerry Madsen and defending titlist Shane Stewart are tied for the point lead with 173 markers. In third place is week-long leader Zach Chappell with 172 points. Tonight's $125,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals A-Main will award 50 points towards the "Mr. Sprint Car" title, with a drop of one point per position through 24th place (27 points). Those not making the National Championship feature, but competing in one of the other mains tonight, will receive 10 points.

At this stage, Madsen and Stewart are in the B-Main, with Chappell in the D-Main. Others in contention are Skip Jackson (B-Main), Brooke Tatnell (C-Main), 'sleeper' Tim Kaeding (A-Main), Lynton Jeffrey (D-Main), Garry Lee Maier (C-Main), and Brent Antill (A-Main). The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek titlist will earn $3,000 and the "Mr. Sprint Car" trophy, presented by Bruce & Debbie Cox.
