KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 13, 2004) - As bad a night as Zach Chappell had last evening at Knoxville Raceway (third in the C-Main), he is still hanging onto his point lead in the Cox Design and Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek point standings after night number 6 of the 8-night grind. Chappell, from Talala, Oklahoma, has 172 points in the "Mr. Sprint Car" title chase, compared with Oklahoman Shane Stewart's 138 points and Californian Tim Kaeding's 132 points.
Following Chappell, Stewart, and Kaeding are Australian Kerry Madsen, Kansan Garry Lee Maier, Oklahoman Wayne Johnson, and Missourian Jesse Hockett. Points are accumulated in each night's feature in the sprint car races at Knoxville and Oskaloosa from August 7 through 14, including the Brodix Tournament of Champions and Kele World Challenge invitationals.
Tonight is night 7 of the 8-night SprintWeek, featuring the Kele World Challenge, presented by the Fleet Buying Group, at the Knoxville Raceway. The 20-lap finale pays $10,000 to win and features the best international sprint car racers from Australia, New Zealand and America. It should be noted that no Canadians qualified for tonight's 18-car race. Those in the SprintWeek 'top twenty' that are entered in tonight's point-paying world challenge are Shane Stewart, Kerry Madsen, and Skip Jackson.
