OKC-Lawton Double on Tap for ASCS Sooner Region
TULSA, Okla. (April 17, 2006) -- Race fans and American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region race teams will be blazing a trail up and down the H.E. Bailey Turnpike this weekend as the series takes to Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway on Friday night before making the southwesterly trek to Lawton (OK) Speedway on Saturday night.
Twenty-year-old Sam Hafertepe, Jr., of Sunnyvale, TX, carries the series point lead into the weekend after topping the recent ASCS Sooner Region season opener at Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, TX.
Hafertepe is one of several O'Reilly ASCS National Tour championship hopefuls that are expected for the weekend, with others including defending ASCS Sooner Region champion Sean McClelland of Collinsville, OK, and 13-year-old Trey Robb of Newcastle, OK.
Also expected for the weekend double are each of the past ASCS Sooner Region champions, including Fort Worth racers Kevin Ramey and J.P. Bailey along with Norman's Danny Jennings and Oklahoma City's Andy Shouse.
Other top ASCS Sooner Region contenders that will be in action over the weekend include Derek Cottrell, Dex Eaton, Brian McClelland, Eric Baldaccini, Johnny Miller, Justin Melton, Travis Jenkins, Forrest Sutherland and Michael Brown.
Friday's racing action at State Fair Speedway is set to go green at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday's event at the unofficial capitol of the Sooner Region, Lawton Speedway, getting under way at 8:00 p.m.

The 2006 American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region slate consists of 15 events at eight different tracks throughout Oklahoma and northern Texas.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
