Mid-America to Host ASCS Sooner Region Nationals!
TULSA, Okla. (August 29, 2006) -- Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, OK, is upping the ante for the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region with the addition of the First Annual ASCS Sooner Region Nationals on Saturday night, October 7.
Expected to become an annual event, Mid-America Speedway will pay out $3,000 to the winner of the "A" Feature event, with $300 to start the "A" Main and $150 to all "B" Main starters in the season finale for the ASCS Sooner Region.
The added event brings the ASCS Sooner Region back to the originally anticipated 15-event schedule for 2006. Along with the June 3 challenge event versus the ASCS Mid-South Region at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway, the pair of events added to the originally released schedule make up for the pair of events surrendered to the ASCS National Tour in July.
With a dozen events already in the books, Mid-America Speedway is set to host two of the three remaining events for the ASCS Sooner Region, including the series next outing on September 16.
The series is also set for a showdown at Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, TX, on September 23.
With just three events remaining for the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region, a mere 16 points separate the top three in the championship points battle, as 20-year-old Sam Hafertepe, Jr., tries to collect his first title by holding off defending ASCS Sooner Region champion Sean McClelland and two-time ASCS Sooner Region champion Kevin Ramey.
In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
