TULSA, Okla. (June 30, 2003) - The American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region is set for its second stop of the season atop Lawton (OK) Speedway's ¼-mile semi-banked red clay oval this Saturday night, July 5.

Kevin Ramey of Ft. Worth, TX, leads the way into the event, with one of his two victories in ASCS Sooner Region action coming in the series' May 3 stop at Lawton Speedway.  Ramey carries a 70 point lead over defending Sooner Region champion Danny Jennings of Norman, OK, into the event.

Robert Sellers, the 2001 ASCS National Rookie of the Year, is just six markers behind Jennings in third, with Texans Derek Drown (Amarillo) and Brian Harvill (Irving) rounding out the current top five in ASCS Sooner Region points.

Another Texan, Marvin Lough, is currently ranked sixth, with Roy Larkin, last year's points runner-up, in seventh.  Tulsa-area drivers Nick Smith and Sean McClelland are tied for eighth, with Travis Scott completing the current top ten.

Several familiar faces at Lawton Speedway, including Jeff Dodd and two-time two-barrel Sprint Car track champion Gary Owens are expected to vie for victory honors as well Saturday night.

Close to 30 cars are expected for Saturday night's racing action, which is slated to get under way at 8:30 p.m.

Lawton Speedway is located off I-44 Exit 36, then 2.5 miles west on Lee Boulevard, then 1.5 miles south on Sheridan Road.  For more information, contact the track at 580-355-6417.
