ASCS Sooner Region set for Creek County Speedway Saturday night.
Lonnie Wheatley, ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (October 6, 2003) - Kevin Ramey will try to move one step closer to the American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region championship this Saturday night as the series makes its final appearance of the season at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK.
Ramey kicked off the ASCS Sooner Region season by topping a 39-car field at Creek County Speedway on March 22. Ramey has since notched four more Sooner Region triumphs, running his total to five out of thirteen events, including the most recent Sooner Region event at Creek County Speedway, a non-wing event on July 19.
With his consistent strong performances, Ramey has amassed a 108 point lead over defending series champion Danny Jennings in the points race, with just the Sunday, October 26, season finale at Ada's Oklahoma Sports Park remaining after this Saturday night's event.
Hailing from Ft. Worth, Ramey will be faced with a number of top foes this Saturday night, including fellow Lone Star State representatives Derek Drown of Amarillo and Brian Harvill of Irving.
Jennings leads the contingent of Oklahoma City area drivers that also includes Robert Sellers, James Shoun and Travis Scott. A number of top Tulsa shoes will be on hand as well, including Roy Larkin, Foster Landon and Stephanie Chappell.
Approximately 30 cars are expected for Saturday night's event at Creek County Speedway.
Saturday night's racing action is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m. Creek County Speedway is located twelve miles southwest of Tulsa, one mile west of I-44 Exit 211 on State Road 66. For more information, contact the track at 918-247-6675.
