Alley & Hockett to Take on ASCS Sooner Region Stars
TULSA, Okla. (April 2, 2004) -- Two of sprint car racing's up-and-coming stars, Nebraska's Billy Alley and Missouri's Jesse Hockett, are set to take on the top guns of the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region in Saturday night's season opener at Caney (KS) Valley Speedway.
From Lincoln, NE, Alley captured the Eagle (NE) Raceway championship in 2002 and was honored as the National 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year.
Alley backed it up last year, winning the Knoxville Raceway 360-ci Sprint Car championship. Alley also collected his first ASCS National victory by winning the Sedalia 360 Shootout, worth $10,000.
Hockett, from Warsaw, MO, posted 15 feature wins in 2003, including a $10,000 triumph over the nation's top non-wing stars in the Non-Wing World Championship event at Kansas City's Lakeside Speedway.
Hockett also got his first taste of ASCS glory by winning a preliminary event at the Sedalia 360 Shootout.
Alley and Hockett will face a tough field of entries, including defending ASCS Sooner Region champion Kevin Ramey, 2002 Sooner Region champion Danny Jennings, 2000 ASCS National champion Wayne Johnson, ASCS National Tour competitor Toby Brown and top Sooner Region regulars Derek Drown, Foster Landon, Brian Harvill, Sean McClelland and Tony Bruce, Jr.
In addition to the approximately 30 ASCS Sooner Region sprint cars set to battle atop the quarter-mile clay oval, the Brown Racing Xpress ABF Truck Rebuilders two-seater Sprint Car will be on hand as well. Tickets will be raffled, with several lucky fans winning chances to go for a wild ride with Carthage, MO, shoe Toby Brown, who will also be shooting for a Sooner Region feature win Saturday night.
Saturday night's American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region season opener is set to go green at 7:00 p.m.
