Dustin Daggett Starts His 2004 Season With a Victory: Hartford Up Next
PORTLAND, Mich. -- Dustin Daggett kicked off his 2004 Sprints on Dirt campaign with a victory on Saturday at the Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal, Michigan. Daggett, in his family owned Dowker engine powered Maxim chassis, topped a stellar field of cars by passing early leader John Gall on lap four to take the victory.
Last season, Daggett suffered cut tires during the first two events of the season and did not score a victory until May 23rd at Limaland Motorsports Park during a NRA/SOD co-sanctioned event. Daggett already has his first victory of 2004 almost one month earlier than in 2003, when Dustin scored seven victories in route to the Sprints on Dirt point championship.
"Saturday was a great confidence booster for me," said Daggett. "I was a little bit nervous at the beginning of the night, there were a lot of drivers I had never seen before. I think it was just first night jitters though."
Daggett now focuses his attention on the next SOD event Friday at Hartford Speedway Park. The wicked half-mile track at Hartford has been good to Daggett with seven career victories, including the last three in a row. Daggett earned his final 2003 victory at Hartford during a twin feature program coming from the tail of the field. Daggett hopes to increase the streak to four in a row at Hartford.
"I really enjoy big, fast race tracks. I have a lot of laps there (at Hartford). With the great start to the season we are really looking for good things Friday".
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. EST with racing starting at 8:00 p.m. at Hartford. Look for more information on Dustin Daggett coming soon on his redesigned website at www.dustindaggett.com.
