DEFENDING USAC SILVER CROWN CHAMPION JIMMY SILLS FIRST ENTRY FOR RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY'S USAC CHAMPIONSHIP TWINS

RICHMOND, VA - Defending True Value USAC Silver Crown Champion Jimmy Sills of Placerville, CA was the first competitor entry blank to be received for Richmond Intenational Raceway's USAC CHAMPIONSHIP TWINS, June 17th.

Sills won his second Silver Crown Championship in 1994, capturing three victories in nine points races to hold off hard charging Chuck Gurney of Livermore, CA by 82 points.

The champ had a tremendous 1994 season, winning both events at Indianapolis Raceway Park and striking gold again at CalExpo in Sacramento, CA. A strong fifth place finish at the season closer in Bakersfield, CA clinched the title for Sills.

Among the notable entries received to date, 1994 points runner-up Chuck Gurney and third place Randy Tolsma of Meridian, ID have submitted entry blanks for the 134 lap fray. Gurney posted two wins in '94 while Randy Tolsma's consistency and plenty of top 10 finishes kept Randy in the hunt and also earned him the series most improved driver award. Kenny Irwin Jr., 1994 USAC Silver Crown "Rookie of the Year" and winner of the Copper World Classic has also decided to attend Richmond.
