Entries keep rolling in for I-30 Speedway's 16th Annual Short Track Nationals.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (October 13, 2003) - With the early pre-entry deadline looming for the 16th Annual Team Affiliated Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires, entries from the nation's top drivers continue to pour into I-30 Speedway's track office for the $15,000-to-win, $1,600-to-start Sprint Car classic set to take place October 23-25.
Entries postmarked by Tuesday, October 14, are only $150. After that date, all entries will be $250, with no exceptions.
Three past Short Track Nationals champions are among the early entries, including Gary Wright, the only driver to claim two STN crowns since the event became one of the nation's premier 360-ci Sprint Car events in 1993. Wright topped the 1995 and 1999 editions of the event atop Little Rock's racy quarter-mile clay oval.
Other past winners that have entered include 2000 winner Mike Ward from Memphis, TN, and 2003 I-30 Speedway champion Pete Butler of Mabelvale, AR, who topped the prestigious race in 1996.
Other top shoes that have already entered include current O'Reilly ASCS National Tour point leader Travis Rilat, Shane Stewart, Tim and Joey Montgomery, Jan and Dale Howard, Jason Martin, Clint Garner, Josh Higday and 2003 Winged Outlaw Warriors champion Eric Schrock.
Qualifying events for the Saturday, October 25, $15,000-to-win Short Track Nationals finale will take place with half the entrants competing on Thursday night and the other half on Friday night. Passing points will be used to determine feature lineups. The top two finishers from each qualifying feature will be locked in for Saturday's "Pack's Dash for Cash", which will determine their feature starting position.
ASCS rules will be in effect, with mufflers mandatory (Schoenfeld 112535-no gutting). The weight rule of 1,300 pounds without the driver will be enforced, and the Hoosier medium/hard spec tire must be used on the right rear with any Hoosier tire on the left rear.
Drivers planning on competing in the 16th Annual Team Affiliated Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires are encouraged to submit their entries as soon as possible. Entry forms may be obtained at www.i-30speedway.com or by calling the track at 501-455-4567 and returned to I-30 Speedway, 2900 Old Jacksonville Hwy, North Little Rock, AR 72117.
