FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Aug. 17, 2002) Tommy Worley Jr. of Bismarck increased his points lead in the sprint car division at the St. Francois County Raceway Saturday night by winning the feature and his heat race. Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown continued to shine in non-wing races as he captured the checkered flag in the Midwest Sprint Car Association's feature race.
For Worley his win came at a critical time of the season if he hopes to pick up his first-ever sprint car track championship. He is a past champion at the track, but in the Limited Late Model class.
In the feature Worley had to hold off the charge of Ronnie Standridge for the victory with Timmy Montgomery taking home third place, Casey Barnhouse fourth and Bob Thoman fifth. They were followed by Joey Montgomery, Keith Burch, Greg Burns, Dale Campbell and Ted Adams. Jason Keith won the first heat race with Burch second and Burns third. Worley Jr. won the second heat with Jay Landolt second and Timmy Montgomery third. Standridge won the third heat with Barnhouse second and Bryan Mathews third. Standridge won the trophy dash with Worley second and Burch third. Thoman won the "B" main with Rod Crabdree second and Joey Montgomery third.
In the non-wing feature, Joey Montgomery battled Donnie Gentry for the top spot before Joey pulled away for the victory. Gentry finished in second place with Jonathan Godfrey third, Travis Thomas fourth and Steve Thomas fifth. They were followed by Keith Burch, Patrick Budde, Kyle Wissmiller, Tubby Black and Al Thomas.
Mitch Wissmiller won the first heat with Will Newland second and Gentry third. Montgomery won the second heat with Kyle Wismiller second and Godfrey third. Al Thomas won the trophy dash with Ralph Yagle Sr. second Gentry third.
In the Modified class, Gary Haynes picked up his first SFCR feature win with Kenny Kennedy second, Timmy Hill third, Billy Smith fourth and Chris Boyd fifth. They were followed by Pete Koenig, Keith Ruff, Dylan Sharp, Bob Waterhouse and Tommy Worley Sr.
In the first heat race, Waterhouse was the winner with Haynes second and Adam Parmley third. Mike Crader won the second heat with Hill second and Boyd third. Smith won heat #3 with Kennedy second and Sharp third. Koenig won the "B" main with Worley Sr. second and Kasey Nations third. In the Hobby Stock class, Chuck Adams of Piedmont pull off another feature win with Doug Savage second, Randy Forster third, Jeremy Greenwalt fourth and Billy Mayberry fifth. They were followed by Brad Mashek, Mike Francis, Bruce Boren, Kasey Nations and Kenny Harris. Kevin Mosier won the first heat race with Greenwalt second and Matt Eaton third. Adams won the second heat with Harris second and Forster third.
