Fredericktown Flash strikes again at SFCR.
FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Aug. 24, 2002) The Fredericktown Flash, aka Timmy Montgomery, returned to victory lane at the St. Francois County Raceway (SFCR) Saturday night with a thrilling win over Ronnie Standridge.
On a night where 36 sprint cars packed the pits at SFCR, the defending track champion (Montgomery) picked up a big feature win to keep him in the hunt for a third straight title. Standridge held on to earn second place while third went to Tommy Worley Jr., fourth to Joey Montgomery and fifth to Robbie Standridge. They were followed by Terry Babb, Jason Keith, Rod Crabdree, Steve Short and Timmy Moss.
Casey Barnhouse won the first heat with Keith second and Robbie Standridge third. Worley won the second heat with Timmy Montgomery second and Lowe Cannell third. Joey Montgomery won the third heat with Ronnie Standridge second and Babb third. Moss won the fourth heat with Crabdree second and Timmy Hurley third. Timmy Montgomery won the dash with Keith second and Barnhouse third. Larry Dudley won the first semi with Keith Burch second and Alex Shanks third. Jay Landolt won the second semi with Short second and Bob Thoman third.
In the Modified class, on a night where the raceway was featuring the class, Billy "the Kid" Smith of Park Hills shined. Smith battled Jeff Lebaube for the top spot in the feature and came away with the victory. Lebaube settled for second place with Gary Haynes taking third, Joe Giesler fourth and Bill Gilliam fifth. They were followed by Dylan Sharp, Chris Boyd, Kenny Kennedy, Mike Crader and Matt Zimmerly.
Haynes won the first heat race with Smith second and Dan Zander third. Giesler won the second heat with Sharp second and Boyd third. Lebaube was the winner of heat three with Timmy Hill second and Zimmerly third. Kennedy won the "B" main with Scott Carron second and Bob Waterhouse third.
In the Hobby Stock class, Chuck Adams of Piedmont continued his winning ways by picking up his eighth feature win in 15 nights. Chris Boyd captured second place with Karl Francis third, Brand Mashek fourth and Kenny Harris fifth. They were followed by Jeremy Greenwalt, Kasey Nations, Mike Francis, Doug Savage and Randy Forster.
Mike Francis won the first heat race with Karl Francis second and Mashek third. Adams won the second heat with Boyd second and Greenwalt third. In the 600cc Multi feature, Daniel Adler picked up his first feature win of the season at SFCR by holding off the charge of Kent Buckley for the win. Tommy Boyd finished in third place with Josh Statler fourth and Ray Statler fifth. They were followed by Jeremy Boyer, Josh Kennedy, Rusty Parker, David Frohman and Todd Reynolds.
Kennedy won the first heat with Shawn Merritt second and Junior Ferguson third. Buckley won the second heat with Joey Boyd second and Adler third. There will be a two-day show at SFCR this week. On Saturday all four classes (sprints, modifieds, hobby stocks and multis) will compete, then on Sunday (Sept. 1) the Winged Outlaw Warriors will also join in the fun.
