HPI Sprint Twin 20's to offer more than 10,000 in prize money this Saturday.
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - For the first time since 1988, Selinsgrove Speedway will host Twin 20's for sprint cars this Saturday, July 27. The racing program, sponsored by Housing Products, Inc. (HPI) of Selinsgrove, will feature two 20-lap sprint car features in one night.
The Cindy Rowe Auto Glass sprint cars will be joined by the late models, pro stocks and roadrunners beginning at 7 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m.
With an additional $500 in purse money being sponsored by HPI, each of the 20-lap sprint car features will pay $1,050 to win. If a driver can win both main events, he will collect a $400 bonus, making it possible for one sprint car driver to earn $2,500 for sweeping the July 27 events.
More than $10,000 in prize money has been posted for the sprint car twin 20-lap events. Sprint car drivers will draw for their starting spots in the qualifying heat races, then the top heat race finishers will redraw for the first main event. The winner of the first sprint feature will draw to invert the top 8, 10 or 12 finishers for the start of the second feature.
Courtesy of HPI, the late model feature winner will receive a $200 bonus to win this weekend, while the pro stock winner will earn a $100 bonus for the victory. HPI will also be giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan for the upcoming Sept. 22 NASCAR event at Dover International Raceway.
HPI, located on Route 522 in Selinsgrove, is the region's leading wholesale supplier of windows, vinyl siding, pre-finished moldings and doors to the construction and home building industries. The privately-held company was founded in 1996 and has more than 45 local employees. The July 27 racing program at Selinsgrove will be the second of the season sponsored by HPI.
