Selinsgrove Speedway officials postpone March 22-23 openers; 410 Sprint Cars will open season next Friday Night.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The season openers scheduled for this weekend at Selinsgrove Speedway & Raceway Park have been postponed, it was announced by track officials Wednesday evening.

The decision was reached following several attempts to prepare both the tracks for this Saturday's opener for sprint cars, late models, pro stocks and roadrunners and Sunday's opener for go karts. Saturated grounds and a forecast for heavy rains the latter part of this week are to blame.

Track officials will now focus on the three-race weekend slated for March 28-30.

For the first time in more than 10 years, Selinsgrove Speedway will host a Friday night 410 sprint car race on March 28 at 8 p.m. Not only will the event serve as the track's 2003 season opener, but it will also mark the first of five races in the Middleswarth Potato Chips 410 sprint car series. The pro stocks will join the 410 sprint cars next Friday night.

The speedway will swing back into action on Saturday, March 29 with the opener for the Cindy Rowe Paintless Dent Repair 358 sprint cars, MAPCO Machine Shop late models, Salem RV Center/Keller's Auto Body pro stocks at roadrunners at 6 p.m.

Selinsgrove Raceway Park will host its season opener for go karts on Sunday, March 30 at 12 p.m.
