SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove romped to his second win in a row and third overall in 2003 at Selinsgrove Speedway in Saturday night's 25-lap sprint car feature on Modular Structures of PA, Inc. (MSI) Night.

For Heimbach, who won his seventh race of the season at Clinton County Speedway on Friday night, the victory was the fourth of his career at the Snyder County track at the wheel of the Creasy Signs/Middleswarth Potato Chips/Beavertown Block/Salem RV Center No. 12 entry.

Scott Haus of Hamburg won his second race of the season at Selinsgrove and sixth overall in the 20-lap late model feature.

Nate Kerstetter of Millerstown won his third event of the season in the 15-lap pro stock feature, while Matt Drum of Port Trevorton was the winner of the 12-lap roadrunner feature.

Fred Thompson and Larry Felty won the Sportsman and Modified vintage race club races, respectively.

MSI sponsored the track's second annual Legends Night, which was highlighted by a special appearance by former three-time Selinsgrove sprint car champion Bobbie Adamson. The visit by Adamson marked his first at the track since he retired from racing in 1973.

Selinsgrove Speedway will present Kids Night plus a racing program of sprints, late models, pro stocks and roadrunners this Saturday, August 2 at 7 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:30 p.m. for registration for kids ages 12 and under.

On the initial start of the sprint car feature, two-time feature winner and 10th-place starter Kevin Nouse crashed hard into the fourth turn wall. On the ensuring restart, polesitter John Wagner powered into the early lead.

Wagner was trailed by second-place starter Larry Kelleher for the first five laps before third-place starter Jason Schultz advanced to second. Ninth-place starter Blane Heimbach drove into the third position on lap seven.

On the 10th circuit, Schultz took the lead following an inside pass by Wagner in turn four. Schultz held the lead until lap 15, when Heimbach made an similar pass in turn three for the first position.

Once in the lead, Heimbach began to stretch his margin. The caution flag unfurled on lap 18 for Nate Snyder, who had his top wing break loose while racing in the second position.

For the restart, Heimbach led Schultz, 12th-place starter Chad Layton, eighth-place starter Donnie Beaver and 13th-place starter Davie Franek.

The final caution flag waved on lap 22 when Jen Yinger's race car stopped on the track. When the race resumed, Heimbach rocketed to the win by 2.5 seconds over Layton, Schultz, Beaver and 20th-place starter TJ Stutts.

In the late model feature, second-place starter Dave Shulski took the lead at the onset. Shulski was chased by fourth-place starter Brian Cochran for the first five laps until Cochran put in a bid for the lead.

Cochran took the lead with an inside pass by Shulkski in turn four on lap six. Shulski, however, battled back and reclaimed the lead on lap nine when Cochran withdrew from the race with a flat tire.

Shulski led until the 13th lap, when eighth-place starter Scott Haus took command of the field with an inside pass in turn one. Haus then drove away from the field and posted a four second victory over Shulski, Dale Kerstetter, Tony Adams and Jeff Rine.

Outside front row starter Ken Stitt drove into the lead at the start of the pro stock feature. Defending champion Gerald Kratzer chased Stitt in second, while fifth-place starter Nate Kerstetter followed in third.

On the fifth circuit, Kerstetter challenged Stitt for the lead and came away with it in turn two. At the halfway point, Kerstetter led Stitt, Jake Buck, Kratzer and Dave Bowsman.

With two laps remaining, eighth-place starter Kyle Bachman charged into second. The event's final caution flag unfurled on lap 14. The chase to the checkered flag saw Kerstetter hold off Bachman for the win. Stitt, Buck and Kratzer completed the top five.

Second-place starter Brad Mitch led the first seven laps of the roadrunner feature until fourth-place starter Matt Drum took command of the field. Drum went on to post a convincing win over Mitch, Jim Somers, Cory Long and Don Scheib.
