7/14/03, Selinsgrove, Pa - In a continuing effort to recognize the sport and the track's past elite, Selinsgrove Speedway will welcome sprint car driver and three-time speedway champion Bobbie Adamson of York in his return to the track on July 26.

The Selinsgrove Speedway champion in 1967, '70 and '72, Adamson garnered 28 career wins at the track during the time he campaigned at the speedway from 1966 until the end of the 1973 season. Adamson currently ranks seventh on the oval's all-time win list and will be walking through the Selinsgrove gates to sign autographs on July 26 for the first time since he last visited as a driver in 1973.

Now 69-years of age, Adamson holds 109 career top-five efforts at the track including his victories. He campaigned the Wilbur Hawthorne No. 35, Al Hamilton No. 77 and the Jim Seidel No. 98 during his tenure at the speedway. Adamson also holds the 1967 track title at the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg where he scored 26 career wins.

Adamson is happy, excited and honored to be returning to Selinsgrove Speedway, the track he says was his favorite to race at.

"Those were special years and special friendships with (speedway) promoter Jack Gunn and all the drivers. It was jut one big family. I received many awards, was inducted into the York County Racing Club Hall of Fame, met many great people and the fans were so dedicated. It was a great part of my life that was involved in racing but also the best part of it," says Adamson.

Adamson's visit corresponds with a visit to the track by the Williams Grove Old Timers organization on July 26. Numerous restored vintage race cars will be on display. Adamson will sign autographs beginning at 5 PM.

A full program of sprint cars, late models, pro stocks and roadrunners will be presented. Practice laps begin at 7 PM.
