SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Selinsgrove Speedway will present the 23rd annual Housing Products, Inc. Jack Gunn Memorial for sprint cars on Saturday, May 24 at 7 p.m.
The 30-lap Gunn Memorial, a tribute event to the late Hall of Fame race track promoter, will mark the first extra-distance race of the season for the Cindy Rowe Paintless Dent Repair sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway.
With title sponsorship from Housing Products, Inc. (HPI), located on Route 522 in Selinsgrove, the sprint car winner will collect $1,500 for the victory in the Gunn Memorial. The purse for all 24 starting spots will be increased for the special event.
Chad Layton of Harrisburg is the defending winner of the Gunn Memorial. Last year's win in the race marked Layton's fourth consecutive victory of the 2002 season at the Snyder County oval. Layton went on to win a total of seven features at Selinsgrove last year and his second straight sprint car track title.
In addition, HPI will award the late model feature winner with a $300 bonus, the pro stock winner with $50, and the roadrunner winner a $25 bonus as part of the company's promotional night on May 24.
HPI, founded in 1996, is a leading wholesale supplier of building products to the housing industry. The company features an extensive selection of windows, vinyl siding, doors, and pre-finished moldings from nationally-known companies like Andersen, MW and Certaineed, Alside and Thermatru.
HPI is a privately held and operated corporation employing 66 employees.
