Scotia, NY - The Woodard's Concrete Products Central New York Mini Sprint (CNYMS) Tour wound up its 10th Anniversary Season at Penn Can Speedway on September 16, 2000. Twenty-four mini sprinters crowded the pits on a cold fall night, but Steve Boyd warmed to the task and took the feature win. It was his first CNYMS win. James Brush (Newfoundland, PA) and Paul James (Albany, NY) led the full field of cars to the green flag. Early spins by Ryan Lund (Burlington Flats, NY) and Dennis Fink (Germantown, NY) brought out the caution and kept the field bunched. Boyd was able to move up from his 10th starting position to take the lead, with Brush second. The battle was for third, with Bob Scaccio (Suffern, NY), 14 year old Cory Sparks (Scotia, NY) and Jeff Howell (Rochester, NY) in the mix. When the checkered flew, it was Boyd, Brush, and Sparks in the top three positions. Howell and Scaccio were fourth and fifth, respectively. A.J. Bagozzi (Camillus, NY) came home sixth, followed by P.J. Peworchik (Binghamton, NY), Peter Sindt (Stone Ridge, NY), Bruce Brown (Clarks Summit, PA), and Mike Emhof (Sodus, NY) rounding out the top ten. Boyd, Scaccio, and Lund won heat races. Along with the winner's purse, Boyd took home the Seymore Enterprises (Marlboro, MA) gift certificate and the Farrell Oil product award. Lady luck awarded the Bruce Brown Trucking cash bonus to Jeff Howell. CNYMS officials have started to make plans for their fall banquet to crown series points champion P.J. Peworchik. Scaccio took the points runner-up spot, with Emhof third, James fourth, and Duby Woodruff (Schenectady, NY) fifth. Cory Sparks finished sixth in the points and also captured Rookie of the Year honors. Bill Jaycox (Cobleskill, NY) was second in rookie standings, followed by Jared Fink (Germantown, NY).
