Something for everyone at the PAS this weekend!
(LAKE PERRIS, CA - AUGUST 27) Perris Auto Speedway will feature something for every racing fan on Labor Day weekend with two nights of action and the return of the popular NAPA Auto Parts/Auto Trader Magazines SCRA Sprint Cars.
Vista Paint will present the stars and cars of SCRA on Sunday night in a program highlighted by a 50-lap main event. This will be SCRA's first appearance at The PAS since July 27th. Since then, they have been on the road for the first eight rounds of Ron Shuman's Non Wing World Championship Series. While gone from their home track, which is only an hour east of Los Angeles, they have raced in Iowa, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The eight races provided seven different winners (Travis Rilat won at Oskaloosa, Iowa, J.J. Yeley won at Fremont Speedway (Ohio), Richard Griffin, Billy Pauch & Damion Gardner won the three mains in Pennsylvania and Bud Kaeding took both nights at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas).
Silver City New Mexico's Richard Griffin has a firm grip on his fourth SCRA crown heading into Sunday's race. When the tour began, Griffin had less than a 100-point lead in the standings, but his consistent finishes on the tour advanced that total to 308 points. Corona's Tony Jones sits second in the standings while defending SCRA Champion Cory Kruseman, of Ventura, is third.
Sunday night will mark the start of "Back to School month" at The PAS. At every race in September, fans will get one free Junior admission ticket for every Junior priced ticket purchased (must be used the same night) and they will get one free Kid admission ticket for every Kid ticket purchased (must be used the same night).
On Saturday night, The PAS will host five varied divisions of racing. The Temecula Valley Mitsubishi Super Stocks, Temecula Valley Pipe and Supply Street Stocks, California Lightning Sprint Cars, Pick-A-Part Cruisers and the California Champ Trucks. Last Saturday evening Riverside's Chad Burns won the Super Stock main event.
The highlight last Saturday came when the popular "Rust Bucket" team won it's first ever Cruiser Main event. Loved by fans from age 4 to 94, "Rust Bucket" is a 1959 Chevrolet who is just what the name implies - A BUCKET OF RUST. However, they proved last Saturday night that beauty does not make a car go fast as they won the main event with "Olympic Fanfare" playing over The PAS 60,000 watt sound system over the final lap. When the race ended, they did a victory donut on the front straightaway and ended up tagging the inside crashwall much to the delight of the fans who gave them a rousing standing ovation.
Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
Don't forget that at intermission the entire family can dance in The PAS Dance Contest with prizes for the winning dancers ages 12 and under.
Perris Auto Speedway is the world's premiere clay oval stadium. The fan friendly track features an amazing 60,000-watt digital sound system, daytime bright lighting, a wide variety of delicious food, clean restrooms and paved spectator parking. Best of all, the track supplies clean, wholesome family entertainment every Saturday night.
Advance tickets for Saturday's race are on sale now by calling 1-800-595-4TIX (4849) or by going to the PAS website at www.perrisautospeedway.com and clicking on the online tickets icon.
