SCRA returns to Las Vegas.

Lakewood, CA., June 25 -- The NAPA Auto Parts - Auto Trader Magazines SCRA sprint car tour will make its first appearance at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Las Vegas, NV) since October 10, 1997.

That particular race saw one of the most dramatic performances in SCRA history. Rip Williams (Yorba Linda) won that event despite a hard flip in his regular Sharon Jory owned car during the B-Main. Jumping into a car owned by Mark Priestley & Mark Alexander, Williams drove to a 30 lap victory after starting 20th. That drive still stands as the farthest starting spot any driver has won an SCRA race from. Williams also won the only other SCRA race at LVMS which was held in May of 1997.

Last weeks event at the Perris Auto Speedway (Perris, CA) also provided a memorable performance. Ventura's Cory Kruseman won the main event after a fierce battle with Damion Gardner. Gardner crossed the finish line backwards in second place after having made contact with Kruseman only a few yards from the checkered flag. Now with four wins on the year, Kruseman returns to LVMS as the SCRA one-lap track record holder.

Richard Griffin (Silver City, NM) finished seventh last weekend and holds a six point lead over Steve Ostling (Corona) in the SCRA point standings. Kruseman sits third in series points and has closed to within 12 points of Griffin.
