West Kansas swing up next for ASCS Rocky Mountain Region
TULSA, Okla. (August 26, 2003) - Randi Miller will try to extend his six-race winning streak as the American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region makes its second swing through western Kansas this weekend. The Jetmore Motorplex hosts the series on Saturday night, then Thomas County Speedway in Colby, KS, plays host to the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region sprinters on Sunday night.
Hailing from Rapid City, SD, Miller has been red-hot lately aboard Mac White's Carbone-powered Two Dot Tech Maxim, winning the last six events and topping eleven of twenty events overall this season. In the process, Miller has amassed a 170 point lead over defending series champion Mike Dreiling.
While Miller has a comfortable lead in the points chase with just six events remaining, Dreiling is locked in a tight battle for second with Thornton, CO, shoe Eric Miller. Dreiling is currently just 17 markers ahead of Eric Miller.
Rookie pilot Jake Pierson, who nearly broke into victory lane this past weekend, has moved up to fourth in points, with Scott Milan rounding out the current top five.
A number of top Kansas drivers will defend their home turf versus the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region forces, including Garry Lee Maier, Jason Martin, C.J. Johnson, Dennis Park, Tony Bruce, Jr., Kirby Hagans and Steve King among others.
