ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Set For Thunder Mountain Double

ASCS - TULSA, Okla. (May 24, 2004) - The American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region resumes action this weekend with a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader atop the one-third mile, semi-banked Thunder Mountain Speedway dirt oval in Olathe, CO.

After topping the series opener at Black Hills Speedway in South Dakota on May 14, Rapid City, SD, ace Randi Miller leads the way into the Colorado double. Miller posted a .500 win percentage in 2003 en route to the Rocky Mountain Region title.

While Miller claimed a dozen Rocky Mountain Region triumphs last season, it was 2002 series champion Mike Dreiling and Patrick Bourke who split victory honors at Thunder Mountain Speedway in 2003, with Miller settling for runner-up honors in both events.

Along with Miller, Dreiling and Bourke, other top contenders expected for the Olathe double include 2001 series champion Nick Haygood, 2003 runner-up Eric Miller, Jake Pierson, Geoff Dodge, Jace Pennetta, Shane Spurlock, Keith Rauch, Greg Schaefer, Scott Milan and Jeremy Sheaffer among others.

Both nights of racing action are slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m.

Thunder Mountain Speedway is located three miles north of Olathe, CO, on US 50, then 0.7 miles east on Amber Road, then north. For more information, contact the track at 970-323-6494.
