Rauch Thunders to ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Victory Lane
OLATHE, Colo. (July 29, 2006) -- Keith Rauch left little doubt about his second American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region feature victory of the season by leading from flag-to-flag in Saturday night's 25-lap feature at Thunder Mountain Speedway.
The 2004 series champion, Rauch raced into the lead at the outset and led all the way to capture his third career series victory aboard John Schmitz' USA Performance Engines/Wintergreen Construction No. 71 Maxim.
Rauch was chased to the stripe by Rookie contender Todd Plemons, with Jeff Heffner, John Jacob and Dustin Hall rounding out the top five.
Eric Miller crossed the stripe sixth in front of 16-year-old Josh Fellows. After hard contact with the wall in hot laps, New Mexico's Scott Box rebounded thanks to a community effort in the pit area to record an eighth-place showing in the feature, with current series point leader Patrick Bourke in ninth. Ricky Montgomery completed the top ten.
