ASCS Rocky Mountain Region Revs Up for Olathe Double
TULSA, Okla. (July 14, 2003) - After an off weekend to regroup following a busy stretch in the schedule, the American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region re-fires this weekend with a two-night event on Friday and Saturday at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Olathe, CO.
As the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region embarks upon the second half of the season, Rapid City, SD, hotshoe Randi Miller has raced to victory lane five times in the series first twelve events of the year.
Miller has established a 96 point lead over defending Rocky Mountain Region champion Mike Dreiling of Highlands Ranch, CO. Dreiling is the only other driver to make multiple trips to victory lane this season, having posted two triumphs.
With one triumph to his credit, Eric Miller of Thornton, CO, is ranked third in points entering the weekend, just 19 points behind Dreiling. Jace Pennetta of Littleton, CO, and Jake Pierson of Bellvue, CO, round out the current top five.
Completing the current top ten in ASCS Rocky Mountain Region points entering this weekend's double dip atop the 1/3-mile semi-banked Thunder Mountain Speedway dirt oval are Geoff Dodge (Colorado Springs, CO), Mason Hill (Billings, MT), Scott Milan (Ft. Collins, CO), T.J. Thorne (Salt Lake City, UT) and Nick Haygood (Centennial, CO).
Racing action is slated to kick off at 7:00 p.m. on both nights.
