Fred Rahmer, the winningest sprint car driver in the nation last year, will try his hand at promoting races this summer. Rahmer will promote the Philadelphia Inquirer Night at the Races at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ on Wednesday, June 16.

Fred has decided to add a bit of a twist to the normal schedule of heat races, a consolation race and a 25-lap feature. Also on the card for the evening is a non-qualifiers race and a pole shuffle. In the pole shuffle, the top ten cars in qualifying will race in a series of match races to determine the starting line up for the feature.

"The tenth fastest guy, who qualifies through his heat, will race the ninth quickest guy, in a green, white, checkered match race," said Rahmer. "Whoever wins that will race the eighth fastest guy and so on, and so on." Each match race will pay $100 to win.

The evening is sure to be full of surprises with t-shirt and hat give aways from the Central Pennsylvania sprint car drivers. And the first 500 children (12 and under) will receive a free GMP collector car. Harry Gant's No. 7 Busch car will be on display too.

The track is located on Route 539 in New Egypt, New Jersey. Take the New Jersey Turnpike to exit 7A to 195 east. Take exit 16A, 537W for 5 miles, then left on Rt. 539. Track phone (609) 758-1900
