Keith Prutzman raises the bar for 2nd KARS Sprint season.
Hamburg, PA - January 28, 2003 - After a very successful rookie season in 2002 in 358 Sprint competition, Keith Prutzman of Hamburg, PA has joined forces with car owners Dave Best and Steve Powley to put together a two-car team to make an assault on wins and championships this season.
Prutzman switched gears in 2002, moving from the super sportsman ranks into 358 Sprint competition. A year later, a third in Doorways Unlimited KARS 358 Sprint season points and KARS Rookie of the Year honors have Keith very optimistic going into his second season. Further fueling his optimism is news that Best and Powley will bring a second car to the Prutzman stables, a new 2002 Big Max Maxim car, to go along with the 2001 Maxim Keith drove and owned last year.
"I really think we have a good shot at the KARS championship this season," reasoned Prutzman. "I have had a lot of success over the years at Big Diamond Raceway and Port Royal Speedway and of the 14 race dates currently on the KARS schedule, seven races are at Diamond and three are at Port. With Dave (Best) and Steve (Powley) joining us to provide a second car we will be able to be assured to have a car ready for KARS action while we compete at other tracks as well."
The Doorways Unlimited KARS 358 Sprint schedule will be the basis for Prutzman's plans. He'll also run events at Williams Grove and Lincoln as well as at Selinsgrove and Trailways when there are no schedule conflicts. Additionally there will be a 360 cubic inch engine that will make him able to run a few other events with groups like the United Racing Club and the 410 PA Speedweek Sprint Series.
"I like the idea of running at different tracks, against different drivers," commented Prutzman. "With the 358 we will run six different tracks in Central Pennsylvania. KARS will also be running challenge events in New York at Five Mile Point and Accord this year. Running against our Pennsylvania teams plus the Patriot Sprints and the New England Sprints in New York, the AOAS Sprints from the Carolinas at Big Diamond and Selinsgrove, and who knows against who and where with our 360. That's fun for me."
Being competitive also goes a long way toward making things fun. Adequate sponsorship support and a dedicated crew make that possible.
The list of sponsors for Prutzman Racing is long and strong. Returning sponsors include Dark 'N Go Tanning Salon, Hamburg Strand Video, Fitness Quest Gym, Haus Automotive, Westy Bar and Grill, West Side Wood Products, Wayne's Jet Shop, Morganti Photo, Mud's Lawn Car and Miller's Racing Parts. Added sponsors for 2003 include Schaeffer's Harley Davidson, Action Glass, Ramsey Furniture, Clean Machine, Detweiler's Towing, S & Y Paint Supplies, H & H Wings and McKeansburg Hotel.
Dave Best and Steve "Zeke" Powley join the Prutzman team in 2003 as crew members as well as car owners. The remaining pit and shop crew members, listed alphabetically, include Wayne Fenicle, Greg Gulick, Scott McCoy, Keith's son Eric Prutzman, Randy Rickrode and Curt Zimmerman.
