Peebles Cracks First Top Ten Of The Season
Kennedale, Texas - Preston Peebles II raced to his first top ten of his 2005 ASCS Sprint Car season at "The Fastest Little Dirt track in Texas" this past Saturday. From his eighteenth place starting spot, 19 year-old Peebles dueled with past ASCS National Champion Travis Rilat along with other drivers to claim the tenth spot in round two of the ASCS Sooner Championship.
Much like the ASCS Sooner opener in Tulsa, heat race track conditions at Cowtown were very wet and one-lane, making the draw extremely important for heat racing. Unfortunately for Peebles, he started where he eventually finished, third row inside, equaling fifth place. Peebles ran to an 'A' main transferring second place finish in the 'B' main, putting him eighteenth on the line-up just behind Travis Rilat, Danny Jennings and Kevin Ramey. Following a few failed starts due to crashes, Preston went to work in his 11P Maxim, disposing of Rilat and beginning to run down Jennings. While still moving up through the field, Rilat fought back and once the dust settled Preston came home with his first top ten on the year. After two ASCS races, Peebles now sits fifth in the Sooner points. Next on Peebles slate is the Oklahoma Sports Park ASCS event in Ada, Oklahoma on April 23rd. The fast track has treated the Texan driver very well in his two outings there, 2 heat race wins with fifth place and sixth place 'A' main finishes. Peebles is looking forward to keeping the great finishes coming as he still seeks his break through ASCS victory.
