(Anderson, Indiana) - While virtually all other major auto racing sanctioning bodies have concluded their racing schedules for 2006, the Premier Racing Association has one more event. Wednesday night December 13th, the PRA Big Cars invade USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida to wrap up its inaugural season.
Chet Fillip comes into the event as points leader and is poised to become the PRA's first champion. He leads Eric Gordon by a slim 100 points and A.J. Fike by 225 points. A total of 460 points are available if a driver can win the race, be fast qualifier and lead the most laps.
Fillip leads the standings despite the fact that he has not won a race this year. But his worst finish in the 4 races so far in 2006 has been a 6th. Gordon on the other hand won the inaugural race in the series last June 13th at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana and has three other top 10 finishes.
The 100-lap race on USA International's half-mile oval will include all the Big Car regulars plus one of the biggest names in all of action sports -- Travis Pastrana. This 23-year old sensation began riding motorbikes when he was just 4 years old. At the age of 14, he became the youngest World Freestyle Motocross Champion and is yet to lose a freestyle competition. He'll be making his first start in the Big Cars.
Also on the racing card at USA International will be the 50-lap FASCAR vs. The World All-Star Modified Challenge featuring the country's best modified drivers.
The Big Cars will practice from 3 to 4:30pm and qualify from 5:30 to 6:15pm. An autograph session is scheduled prior to the start of the Big Car race. The modified event will follow.
