DODSON, SANTOS AND STENHOUSE TO DRIVE FOR CARL EDWARDS/ R.E. TECHNOLOGIES RACING AT USA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- December 7, 2006 -- Chris Santucci, Team Manager at Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing announced today that the team would field three Big Cars Wednesday night at the Premiere Racing Association Big Car Series 100 at USA International Speedway. Bobby Santos will return to PRA action while NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie, Cameron Dodson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will attempt to make their first starts.
Third generation driver Bobby Santos will pilot the No. 99 Ford powered Beast that Carl Edwards drove at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis last season. Competing only part time in USAC's National Midget and Sprint divisions, Santos won four USAC National Midget races . He tallied two wins and three additional top tens in only ten USAC National Sprint Series starts this season. Bobby Santos holds the USAC midget record for a one lap qualifying speed. The Franklin, Mass. native turned the record speed of 139.553 mph at Iowa Speedway earlier this season.
Cameron Dodson will make his first PRA start behind the wheel of the No. 35 car. Dodson, a veteran of both winged and non-winged sprint car racing got his feet wet in NASCAR this season. The Greenfield, Ind. resident started NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, New Hampshire International Raceway, Martinsville Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway. His best finish, 24th came at New Hampshire.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will also make his first career PRA start driving the No. 135 Dynotech/ J&J. Stenhouse made five starts this season on dirt in the USAC Silver Crown Series for Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing. His best finish, 12th, for the team came at DuQuoin. Like Dodson, Stenhouse is also a veteran of the sprint car ranks. The Olive Branch, Miss. Native won three out of the five 410 sprint car races during Ohio Speedweek earlier this season and captured the checkered flag at three USCS 360 sprint car events.
The Premier Racing Association will wrap up their inaugural Big Car Series season Wednesday at USA Speedway in Lakeland, Florida. The Big Cars have a scheduled an open practice session on Tuesday December 12th at USA International Speedway. The action Wednesday begins with practice at 3pm, qualifying at 5:30pm followed by a scheduled 100-lap feature.
