Port Royal, PA Lance DeWease of Fayetteville, PA won the 25 lap Thursday Night Special at Port Royal Speedway.
DeWease started on the pole and led every lap to earn a convincing $2,500 dollar win aboard the Al Hamilton/Manheim Auto Auctions no. 77. His car owner joined the winner in victory lane. Hamilton spoke with Race Director Tom Little. "It's been awhile since we've been in victory lane here", began Hamilton. " We may not have has the fastest car here but we had the best driver. Lance has won 14 races on 7 different tracks this season and I commend him highly." DeWease was also happy and thankful in victory lane. " We haven't been real good. The breaks went my way. The car was racy tonight. We wouldn't been good enough to start back tonight and win." DeWease also commented on his teams schedule this week. " It's been hard days for the crew. I got to thank Al. He gives us the best equipment in the world."
The race started with Karl Baker of York, PA spinning in turn three. Kevin Schaeffer of Kittanning, PA also stopped in turn four and both drivers restarted at the rear. Upon resumption Joe Deihl stopped in turns three and four after flipping hard in the middle of turns three and four. Deihl walked to the ambulance under his own power. No further details were available as this release was being prepared. Mark Smith spun just one lap later. The race ran green flag uninterrupted with DeWese the winner in the Manheim Auto Auction Special. Rahmer finished second with Kauffman rallying for third. Don Kreitz and Todd Shaffer compleded the top five, Sixth through tenth were Todd Hestor, Cliff Brian,, Kevin Frey,Rick Lafferty, and Jay Reichard.
