Wet grounds cancel Port Royal action set for March 22.

Port Royal, PA Wet grounds have forced cancellation of the Saturday afternoon March 22 season opener at Port Royal Speedway. Officials made the decision Thursday morning March 20 while rains fell on the Juniata County oval. Track crews have been preparing the facility despite heavy mud which has made work difficult. Guardrail work necessary to start the season has been completed from turn four back to turn two. Crews will continue around the oval as the season progresses. Light poles which fell during storms in turns one and two have been replaced. The track is able to operate immediately when ground conditions improve.

The season opener is now set for Saturday afternoon March 29 at 1 P.M. Scheduled to compete are the Aumiller & Associate Sprint Cars, KARS 358 Sprint Cars and the Pizza & Sub Shack Enduro Cars. Gates will open at 11 a.m.

President Tom Little adds this statement. " When the mud goes enough that we can operate reasonably, we will race at Port Royal Speedway. Hopefully that will be next week."
