TULSA, Okla. (March 27, 2008) - The best series within a series just continues to get better. The ASCS Patriots' A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Series has added a substantial point fund to reward the constant hard chargers, thanks to Walton's Farm and Auto Repair.
For the past three years, the ASCS Patriots has tabulated "hard charger" points throughout the year to reward the top three in total cars passed in A-Main competition with a slice of a point fund at years-end. While that point fund will be larger than ever this year with the contribution of a new, soon-to-be-announced, title sponsor, along with Gater Racing News, the King of CNY Series will now have a point fund dedicated to the hard chargers of the six-race series.
Walton's Farm and Auto Repair, of Sauquoit, NY, has established a separate point fund for the five competitors that advance the most cumulative positions in the six King of CNY A-Mains on the 2008 ASCS Patriots Schedule.
"This is a great addition to a great series," said Patriot Regional Director Mike Emhof. "This will only strengthen the popularity of this tour and reward those that worked hard in the features."
The beauty of this point fund is that it will undoubtedly be decided on the final night at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway on October 10. With up to 21 points available, it is likely that more than a dozen of competitors could get into the money with the right luck on this final point race of 2008.
"This should be fun, and that's what's important to us," said Owner Jeff Walton. "We love this series and feel it has great exposure."
In the past, the overall Hard Charger of the Season Standings has been evenly dispersed from Jared Zimbardi (2005) to Don Adamczyk (2006) to Chuck Hebing (2007). Often times, those that are able to rebound from problematic heat races to score quality finishes in A-Main Competition.
Walton's Farm and Auto Repair has long been a supporter of dirt track racing in Central New York. Along with sponsoring the ASCS Patriots, they are also a major sponsor on Jason Barney's No. 87, which was runner-up in the inaugural A-Verdi King of CNY tour last year and will likely be a contender for the lion's share of the now $3,500 point fund established already for this year.
Walton's joins A-Verdi, Mike Emhof Motorsports, and Riverside Bar and Grill as sponsors of this unique six-race series, which opens up again this year at the Fulton Speedway on May 3. As a part of the ASCS Patriot Championship Tour, National Parts Peddler, ASI Racewear, Shuttleworth Asphalt Sealing, Insinger Race Fuels, Gater Racing News, Suzuki, Brodix, Hoosier Racing Tires and Ohsweken Speedway will also be prominent at these events in 2008.
More exciting information is still to come about this mini series, as well as the ASCS Patriot Tour in the weeks to come as competitors such as Chuck Hebing, Jared Zimbardi, Don Adamczyk, Ray Preston, Scott Kreutter prepare to defend their positions inside the top-five in points this year. It will not be easy though as names like Bryan Howland, Blake and Bobby Breen, Dave Wickham, Robbie Shuttleworth, Jimmy Broderick, Gary Troutman, Chris Muhleisen and so many more will challenge throughout what should be the most exciting season ever in the history of the ASCS Patriots.
