Wilson Wows Canadian Crowd with ASCS Patriot Score at Brockville

BROCKVILLE, Ont. (July 15, 2006) -- The grandstands were filled with fans of local racer Rick Wilson, who found a way to win his first Bobcat of Buffalo ASCS Patriot Sprint Group feature of the year in Saturday night's 20-lap feature at Brockville Ontario Speedway.

Wilson caught a few breaks along the way to his 13th career ASCS Patriot feature win, with a pair of early leaders both encountering bad brushes with Lady Luck.

On lap 15, race-long leader Jared Zimbardi spun in lapped traffic, handing the lead over to Don Adamczyk. Adamczyk was then poised to win his first career feature when he collided with a lapped car on lap 19 and flipped hard into turn one. Wilson, who had just passed Nick Bashford for second place, inherited the lead then held off current series point leader Chuck Hebing for the win.

"The Joyceville Jet" kept the fans enthused even after the race, climbing on top of the wing with checkered flag clenched in hand. On the way down, he even collapsed his top wing but didn't seem to mind too much.

"I didn't have the best car tonight, far from it," Wilson said after emphatically grabbing the microphone from the announcer in victory lane.J"I hate it for Adamczyk because he was going good and has never won a race, but I've lost races like that before and it's good to be back here."

Wilson had to hold off Hebing for the final two laps to earn the win.JAfter starting 13th, Hebing climbed through the field to record his third consecutive runner-up finish.

Nick Bashford improved upon his strong run at Brockville last year with a third-place finish, the best run of his career.

Bryan Howland won the dash for cash with an impressive 12.27second lap, more than a half-second quicker than anyone else, but spun out on the second lap of the feature and was relegated to the tail. Despite that, Howland was still able to rally to a fourth place finish.

Tommy Wickham's second run of his sophomore season outweighed his prior runs as he posted his first career top-ten finish by rounding out the top five.

Chris Shuttleworth, Ray Preston, Kyle Wilson, Geoff Quackenbush and Justin Harris were the final five cars on the lead lap, completing the top ten.
