Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Schedule Restructured: Black Rock Now Opener on May 1
TULSA, Okla. (Aprilq0, 2009)- The 2009 Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Opener will still be the first weekend in May, but it has a new venue to go along with a new off weekend early in the season.
Black Rock Speedway will now hold the season opening event, Friday, May 1 in Dundee, NY, starting at 6:46 p.m. It is replacing the originally scheduled May 15 event.
^0x35e5 definitely wanted to open up on the first weekend in May,^0x0ce1id Patriot Regional Director Mike Emhof. ^0x3274^0x2ce0great to work with promoters such as Dean Hoag, who sees the value in a season opener.^0xa2a0
As it stands right now, BRS will also host the first and last event in the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Series. That second event will be the highly touted $4,000-to-win Insinger Race Fules NY Nationals on Friday, August 7.
This is the second time the Yates County Oval will hold a Patriot Season Opener. The other occasion was on April 24, 2004, during the season in which the Patriots were part of the weekly Saturday Night Program.
Black Rock has hosted more A-Mains (22), than any other track in Patriot History. The next highest is Canandaigua with 10 A-Mains.
The invasion of the Patriots to Black Rock brings with it local regulars on the tour such as Robbie Shuttleworth from Geneva, Ray Preston from Romulus and Chris Muhleisen from Arkport. Others such as Lance Yonge from Penn Yan, Tim Kelly from Rock Stream and Bubby Kerrick from Stanley also figure to be on hand for the 2009 lid lifter.
The May 1 event at Black Rock will be the only race that weekend. The Fulton Speedway event, originally scheduled for May 2, has been postponed to a date yet to be determined because of the need to renovate the Oswego County dirt track.
The first Patriot event ever held in Eastern New York will take place the following Friday, May 8, at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway. The next week will now be a week off to prepare for the bulk of a busy 2009 Schedule.
^0x3274^0x2ce0important that we now have an off week in the middle of May before a big weekend at Sharon and Eriez on Memorial Weekend,^0x0864ded Emhof, eluding to the pair of $2,000-to-win shows which will be part of the Holiday Weekend Bonus, which could hand out up to $25,000 to a single driver!
The Black Rock event will now also serve as the first race of the season to be shown on Hot Wings TV, which is available throughout New York on Time Warner Cable SportsNet stations.
Look for another release in the near future on the rescheduled date for the Fulton Event. The new management there has narrowed down the potential dates and is expected to make a decision soon.
