Spring Run, PA_ "A Friday night rainout has no effect on our two Saturday races," Promoter Ken Geesey advised after Two Wheel Promotions was forced to cancel the season's second points race for sprints and stock cars April 4.
Two Wheel Promotions partners Jack Flowers and John Winsett remained hopeful that the track could complete the first karts and quads points race of the season Saturday starting at 10 a.m. and the first strictly stock race for the former junk cars, with gates opening again at 5 p.m.
The Friday rainout for sprints, stock cars and Legends is not scheduled for makeup.
Opening night for the PA 305 Sprints is now Friday, April 11. Also on the schedule next Friday are the Dwarf Cars along with the five regular weekly Friday night divisions, the 600 Sprints, 270 Sprints, V-8 Street Stocks, mini stocks and four-cylinder thunder cars. Saturday, April 12, will see the karts and quads race with gates open at 10 a.m. and then the motorcycles, Legends Cars and four-wheelers race that evening, with gates open again at 5 p.m.
"We saw no rain at all until 5 p.m. We waited about 20 minutes, checked the doppler radar, and had to call the show off in spite of a big line of racecar haulers at the pits gate," Race Director John Winsett said.
