TULSA, Okla. (May 19, 2008) -- The opening page in the latest chapter of the American Sprint Car Series annals will be authored this weekend as the ASCS Northwest Region holds its first weekend of racing action with a two-night stand at Grays Harbor Raceway Park in Elma, WA.

The winged troops of the ASCS Northwest Region take to the high-banked, 3/8-mile Grays Harbor Raceway Park clay oval on Saturday night, then return for an encore outing on Sunday night to complete the weekend. Both nights of action are slated to get under way at 6:30 p.m.

This weekend's action opens up an inaugural slate of 15 events at eight different tracks throughout Washington and Oregon for the ASCS Northwest Region.

A strong field of competitors is expected to battle it out for the first win in ASCS Northwest Region history. Among those will be Oregon's Roger Crockett, who claimed last year's Northern Sprint Challenge Series championship, the predecessor to the ASCS Northwest Region.

Elma, Washington's Grays Harbor Raceway Park is located 21 miles west of US 101 on SR 8 to the junction of US 12, then 0.2 miles north, then 0.6 miles east on Elma-McCleary Road. For more information, contact the track at 360-482-4374.
