"AK 360 Shootout" Wraps Up with ASCS Northern Plains Triple
TULSA, Okla. (August 14, 2007) -- After kicking off the "AK 360 Shootout" with an ASCS Midwest Region event on Tuesday night at I-80 Speedway in Nebraska, the four-race set of events resumes with three American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region events in South Dakota and Minnesota.
On Wednesday night, the "AK 360 Shootout, as in "After Knoxville", finds the ASCS Northern Plains Region in action at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD. Then on Friday and Saturday night, it's on to Jackson Speedway in Jackson, MN, for the annual Jackson Nationals.
Saturday night's Jackson Nationals finale offers up a $5,000 winner's share with $500 to start.
The top four finishers in Friday night's Jackson Nationals preliminary are locked into Saturday night's eight car dash for the pole position.JThe other four driver in the Dash will be the top four in passing points from Saturday heats. Drivers don't have to compete on Friday to be eligible for Saturday's Dash.
Reigning ASCS Northern Plains Region champion Chuck Swenson of Watertown, SD, leads the way into the set of events with a 20-point advantage over 19-year-old Lee Grosz of Harwood, ND.
Dave Glennon of Casselton, ND, is currently ranked third, with Eric Lutz of Sioux Falls, SD, and Curt Lund of Redwood Falls, MN, rounding out the current top five.
The balance of the current top ten includes Chris Graf, Jody Rosenboom, Scott Winters, Clint Garner and Chad Meyer.
Wednesday's hot laps at I-90 Speedway get under way at 7:15 p.m., with hot laps at Jackson Speedway firing off at 7:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

The ASCS Northern Plains Region 2007 slate consists of 19 events at eleven different tracks throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.
The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
