USAC sprint car champion Tony Elliott of Kokomo will try to beat SCRA champion Richard "The Gas Man" Griffin on the 3/8 high-banked oval. 25 SCRA cars will be making the long tow to Indiana featuring their top 10 in SCRA points. Indy 500 veteran J.J. Yeley, Jay Drake, Cary Faas, Cory Kruesman, Rip Williams, Ricky Gaunt, Mike English, Troy Cline, Tony Jones, Mike Kirby, Jeremy Sherman and Steve Osling take on Kevin Thomas, Kevin Doty, Rusty McClure, Jac Haudenschild, Frankie Kerr, Bill Rose, Brian Hayden, and USAC's hottest driver, Tracy Hines. North Vernon opens the series with races also at Terre Haute, ($17,000.00 to win), Hales Corner, WI., Knoxville, IO., and Lincoln, NE., making up the Midwest swing for the World Championship Tour. Later in November, the series runs at Phoenix, AZ., and wrapping up at Perris, CA., both paying $10,000.00 to win. The series point fund of $20,000.00 will be cutup amongst the top 5 in series points. Add all the purse and series money totals over $200,000.00 for the drivers and car owners.
